The art of mastering life and make your dreams come true
Perhaps the most important questions you will ask and answer in your life are Who am I? Why am I here? What do I really want to do with my life?
Just like the book, I'll start this article with the very same questions. In 'Believe It To Achieve It', the author provides a roadmap for unlocking our potential and realizing our dreams. Tracy argues that our thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes are crucial to our success or failure. By cultivating an optimistic attitude and unwavering belief in our abilities, we can achieve extraordinary feats. Brian Tracy gives us 7 steps on how to achieve this.
7 steps to adapt a triumphating mind
In the first step, the author explains why many people struggle in life despite being born with talents and extraordinary abilities. The author uses the metaphor of a race car being constantly bumped and maneuvered with little control to emphasize the importance of thinking big. It is crucial to understand that every action we take has a reaction, and this law governs our lives. By filling your mind with positive thoughts and taking actions that produce positive results, you can lay the foundation for great things. My favorite quote from this chapter is: You don't see the world as it is, you see it as you are.
Every one of us is born an optimist. By letting go of guilt, we can help negative thoughts dissipate, allowing for a freer life. In his analysis, Brian Tracy explores the main reasons why we lose our optimism and are often led to pessimism. He particularly emphasizes the fear of failure and the fear of rejection. The core of this resentment is the feeling of guilt.
Next, you must let go of the past. In order to heal mentally, it is essential to forgive, forget, and let go of negative memories. Your mind is your greatest ally. If you regularly feed it good messages by telling yourself good things, or if your new habits make you feel good, you will learn to leave negative things behind. The more you negotiate with yourself and talk to yourself, the better you will understand the situation you are in and, most importantly, yourself.
In the fourth chapter, the author talks about the incredible power of thoughts and how they can change one's life. It's not the events that define a person, but rather how they respond to those events. According to Norman Vincent Peale, problems are actually blessings in disguise, and the bigger the challenge, the greater the opportunity for growth. So, if you're facing a significant problem, it's because you have the ability to overcome it! You can prove yourself and achieve greatness through growth. If you were not capable, you would not have been entrusted with this task. The chapter provides additional approaches for problem-solving, but they are beyond the scope of this text:)
In the following chapter, we learn how to become a master of change. Many people want their affairs to improve, but at the same time stay the same. This is simply not possible. The only constant in life is change. Using questions such as "What was your biggest problem a year ago?" and several others, Brian Tracy shows that your answers to questions from the past have changed and that you are in a state of flux. He also introduces extrapolar thinking, which is described in more detail in the book. Tracy also emphasizes the importance of long-term thinking and why this thinking is also important for investing - as we ourselves also mention in our blog article.
In the sixth chapter, the author emphasizes the significance of the people in one's life. The satisfaction and success of an individual are largely influenced by those closest to them. The author highlights self-confidence as a central element of their thesis, stating that a confident demeanor and healthy self-esteem emit a contagious energy. The author provides five steps, known as the 5-A's, on how to trigger self-confidence in others, including acceptance and affirmation. Additionally, he provides valuable advice for interpersonal communication and strengthening relationships with colleagues, employees, and others.
Last but not least, he summarizes the content of the previous chapters and emphasizes the importance of constantly nourishing your own thoughts with positivity, whether it be through thoughts, words, images, emotions, or people. Finally, he provides seven steps for achieving your goals, which I cannot disclose as you would not need to read the book then - which you definetively should;)
"I've found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often."
My opinion about the book
To summarize, I really enjoyed the book! Each chapter really resonated with me and motivated me to pursue my dreams. I especially appreciated the author's advice to visualize achieving your goals. If you want to achieve a goal, close your eyes. Visualize your goal. Now imagine how you achieved it. How do you feel after achieving your goal? Take this emotion that is now flowing through your body and mind as motivation to achieve your goal. Remembering this will help you find ways to achieve your goals and gain the necessary strength.
However, I wanted to mention that I had already come across much of the material from other authors in the self-help and non-fiction genres. Despite this, I could sense the author's enthusiasm throughout the text and gained valuable insights on problem-solving. I would recommend this book to those who have only read a few books in this category. Individuals who are well-versed in the field may find some parts repetitive.
If I have inspired you to join the conversation, please feel free to read the book and add it to your bookshelf:)
